Review
My Video Downloader is a video download and conversion tool for Windows. It can download videos from the Internet and then convert them to an array of formats. I've tried to download videos from YouTube and Myspace, and, surprisingly, it worked right out-of-the-box. Other websites might even work if they host SWF files. You can also convert files that already are on your computer. Once the video is loaded, you simply give it a name and select among one of the supported output formats. My Video Downloader can convert files into MP4, DIVX, MPEG 2 and some other formats. I personally tried converting a YouTube video into a MP4 file for playback on the iPhone, using the default settings for MP4 iPhone and the conversion process was actually quick. The quality was the same as you'd see on the YouTube application. If it managed this format so well, I can only think that the rest would work just as well. The only problem that I saw in the application is that you can't really stop it once it is going. And if you click around, you will only make it unresponsive to the point where it crashes or you have to quit it. The rest works like a charm. |
- It worked with popular sites out-of-the-box.
- Good format support.

- You can't stop the process once it is started.
- Can become unresponsive.
